Got Backups?

Have you ever turned on your computer only to find out it isn't turning on? Is your first thought 'I just lost all my files'? If so you need a backup system. A backup system works best when you can set it and forget it. If it's a manual process, you're most likely not going to do it as often as necessary. I mean, come on, as small business owners we are constantly juggling enough tasks, remembering to backup files on your computer is probably going to get pushed to the back, until it's too late.
So what can you do? There are a bunch of programs out there that will gather your files, encrypt them and upload them to a remote data center. Some of the big names in online backup are IDrive, iBackup and Mozy Pro.
Mozy was one of the first companies to offer online backup. In fact they launched their service just as I was looking for a good backup alternative so I jumped on their home product. The Mozy Home product is a great deal if you only have one computer to backup. Current pricing for Mozy Home is $4.95 for unlimited storage! If you have less than 2GB of data you qualify for the free version. The Mozy Pro costs a little more, but provides a web site that gives detailed information about all the computers you are backing up.
Dynamic Data Design has joined with Mozy to be able to offer the Mozy Pro backup service to our customers. If you don't have a backup system, or if your backup system involved copying all the data on your computer to a flash drive (that you're likely to lose) and you have more than one computer that needs to be backed up, the Mozy Pro solution is for you.
Mozy has saved me on a couple of occasions, most recently when my QuickBooks file was somehow corrupted. Recovery was instantaneous and I lost nothing!
